Engineered to combine elegant styling with tough SUV capability: Ford Kuga’s Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, All Wheel Drive and Selectable Drive Modes systems mean you can adapt your driving experience to any road conditions.
Ford Co-Pilot 360 combines a range of technologies making your driving experience more comfortable and enjoyable. Adaptive Cruise Control automatically adjusts your speed based on the vehicle ahead. The system can even recognise speed signs and adjust your cruise control speed accordingly. Lane Centring technology can provide steering assistance by following road markings to help keep you positioned in the middle of your lane. Together, these technologies contributed to Kuga’s 5-star safety rating from Euro NCAP, the leading independent safety organisation in Europe.
The Lane Keeping System uses a forward-looking camera to detect if you’re unintentionally drifting out of lane. Lane Keeping Aid provides gentle steering torque assistance to help guide you back into your lane. If your wheel touches the line or edge of the road, Lane Keeping Alert vibrates the steering wheel and displays a visual warning. The technology automatically deactivates at speeds below 64 km/h, or can be turned off manually.
Parking in a busy street or a tight space can be tricky. But with Enhanced Active Park Assist, the Ford Kuga makes it easier than ever. Available on models with automatic transmission, the system can identify a suitable parking space, and then automatically perform the entire parking and exit manoeuvres for you. Activated by holding the Active Park Assist button, there’s no need for you to steer or use the pedals – the car takes care of it all for you.
The Kuga Plug-in Hybrid offers an innovative new GEO awareness feature via the Ford SYNC 3 screen. Your Kuga can show you when you enter any predefined areas – such as congestion or low emissions zones. These will be displayed in your navigation screen as shaded areas on the map, reminding you to switch to electric drive mode.
A small panoramic camera on the front of the Kuga relays a split-screen image to your SYNC 3 display so you can see vehicles, cyclists or pedestrians coming from either side. This front wide-view camera is invaluable if you’re edging out of a narrow parking space, or in a busy road where your view is obstructed.
Bollards, bicycles, low walls… The rear-view camera activates automatically when you select reverse gear and shows whatever’s behind you on your SYNC 3 display. As well as revealing objects you might miss, the system displays virtual lines that show your current path and help you park into the smallest of spaces. You can also switch to split-screen image that shows you what’s coming from either side of your SUV, making it easier to reverse out of tight spaces.
Whether the signs are at the side of the road or above it, permanent or temporary, Traffic Sign Recognition can identify them. Icons for speed limits and no-overtaking signs are displayed on the instrument cluster, alerting you to changing restrictions.
Kuga’s adaptive front lighting system provides excellent visibility in a variety of conditions. These eye-catching LED headlights use cameras to monitor the road ahead and alter the light patterns to suit different situations, including bends in the road or approaching roundabouts. Glare-free high beam adjusts the angle of the headlight for maximum illumination and minimum glare to protect oncoming traffic when it is detected.
The head-up display projects key information into your field of vision, so you can keep your eyes on the road ahead. Compatible with polarised sunglasses, the clear, bright image can display your preferred choice of content – including vehicle speed, navigation, cruise control notifications and Traffic Sign Recognition data.
Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) senses vehicles hidden in your blind spot to make changing lanes safer. If it detects a vehicle, the system alerts you via discreet warning lights on the door mirrors. If you miss the warning, Blind Spot Assist applies light resistance to the steering, gently discouraging the manoeuvre. Cross Traffic Alert works with BLIS to increase awareness when you’re reversing out of a space with limited visibility. The system detects vehicles approaching from the sides and sounds a warning alerting you to their presence.
Intersection Assist uses the Kuga's front cameras and radar to help you safely cross traffic at a junction. As you prepare to pull out, the system assesses the risk from oncoming vehicles. If it detects a potential collision, it automatically applies the brakes.
Hill Start Assist temporarily stops you rolling backwards or forwards when making a hill start. The system works by maintaining pressure to the braking system for an extra 2-3 seconds, giving you more time and control as you move your foot from brake pedal to accelerator. It’s also useful when you’re stopping and starting on slippery surfaces.
Wrong Way Alert uses a forward-facing camera and information from the navigation system to detect if you’re driving against the direction of traffic. The system delivers visual and audible warnings if you drive the wrong way so that you can stop and take the necessary action.
Powerful, efficient and versatile. Available as a Hybrid, FHEV or EcoBoost petrol engine, you’re sure to find the Kuga that suits your needs. The advanced Kuga Hybrid offers a seamless blend of petrol and electric power; while the Kuga Full Hybrid has an electric motor to increase efficiency.
If you choose the Kuga Plug-in Hybrid, it comes with one standard cable for regular home charging. You can also order an optional cable for public charging stations.
To make charging at home as fast as possible, you can install a Ford Wallbox charging point at home as an optional accessory. Capable of charging your Kuga from 0–100% in under 3.5 hours, the Ford Wallbox offers much faster charging times than a conventional plug socket. We've teamed up with Bord Gáis Energy to offer approved home installation and competitive energy rates.
When you’re driving, a combination of regenerative braking and power drawn from the engine helps replenish the battery. Use the FordPass app on your phone to manage your charging. You can view the hybrid battery’s charge status and set preferred charging times to take advantage of lower, night time energy rates.
In addition to connecting your Kuga Plug-In Hybrid to a charging point, the battery is also able to recharge itself. Regenerative braking captures some of the energy that’s usually lost when you apply the brakes and then sends it back to the battery. The petrol engine sends power back to the hybrid battery too. This helps to constantly keep the battery topped up and maximise efficiency.
When you stop at traffic lights or your vehicle is idling in a queue, this technology can automatically switch off the engine, while still supplying power to the essentials. When you're ready to move, just depress the clutch and select first gear as usual, or press the accelerator on an automatic vehicle, and the system seamlessly restarts. Auto-Start-Stop is particularly effective in town and city streets, where it can cut fuel consumption by up to 10% (urban cycle).
Wherever you’re driving, Kuga is built to maximise control. Choose from five drive modes, which fine-tune vehicle performance to suit the conditions. Select between: Normal, Sport, Wet/Slippery, Trail, or for maximum efficiency, Eco mode. The drive modes alter acceleration, steering and suspension, while also adjusting the traction and stability controls to provide optimum control in any setting.
A range of features can help you to save fuel and maximise the recharge rate of your hybrid battery. View your Journey Insights in the FordPass app to see data on your historical journeys, including Fuel Reports to help you stay on top of your spending. If you choose a Kuga Hybrid, then Brake Coach can tell you how to brake more efficiently to reduce your fuel consumption. EV Coach will help you improve how quickly the hybrid battery recharges with Regenerative Braking technology.
If you choose a manual, the Kuga’s 6-speed gearbox has a high torque capacity and delivers smooth, swift and accurate gear-changes. To help optimise fuel efficiency, the shift indicator light within the instrument panel tells you when to change gear.
For models with automatic transmission, Kuga’s Rotary Gear Shift Dial gives you complete control of the advanced 8-speed gearbox – allowing you to seamlessly select gears with the simple twist of the dial. While replacing the conventional gear leaver frees up additional space for a cleaner, more refined interior design.
With impressive CO2 emissions figures from just 22g / km CO2 /km (WLTP), the Ford Kuga Plug-In Hybrid engine meets the stringent Euro 6.2 emissions standards. These standards are designed to improve air quality and reduce exhaust emissions.

Want to make charging your Plug-in Hybrid at home as fast as possible? A Ford Wallbox charging point can assist. With the help of one of our expert EV charger installation partners, we can help you arrange the installation of a higher-power Ford Wallbox at home, as an optional accessory. Enjoy more of the great outdoors from the comfort of your Ford Kuga. An electrically-operated, dual panel panorama roof truly lets you feel immersed in the surrounding scenery. The roof sits above the first and second rows of seats, flooding the interior with natural light and creating an abundance of fresh air when opened. The sliding glass also has a solar reflective coating to help keep the interior cool when closed, while an internal sunblind provides extra shade when you need it.
The interior of the Kuga is designed to maximise space and convenience. For example, the large media container in the centre console is big enough for even the largest smartphones. With wireless charging also available for compatible smartphones, it has never been easier to make sure your devices are always ready to use.
Heated seats are available for the driver and front passenger. And for a comfortable start to the day, a heated steering wheel keeps your hands warm on frosty winter mornings. If your Kuga has an automatic transmission you can use the FordPass app to start the engine remotely, preheating your vehicle and making sure the windscreen is de-iced and ready to go when you are.
Kuga’s 10-way adjustable power driver’s seat lets you tailor your driving position to your exact preferences. You can move the seat forwards and backwards as well as adjust the cushion, seat height, back rest and lumbar support.
This clever feature is designed to get you on the move quickly on frosty mornings. Just touch a button and ultra-thin filaments can superheat to de-ice, de-fog and de-mist your windscreen as well as help defrost the wipers. The system works in seconds, even if it’s freezing outside.
The electric parking brake is a simple addition that has some surprising advantages. For instance, it gives you more room in the cabin, it’s easier to apply, and you won’t have to get the brakes serviced as regularly. To apply the brake, all you have to do is press a button in the centre console.
From alerting you to potential collision hazards, to clever systems that help you to maintain traction and stability: your safety is our concern. That’s why the Ford Kuga comes loaded with a host of clever assistance technologies as standard, all designed to help keep you, your family and other road users protected.
As proof of its outstanding ability to protect you and your passengers, the Kuga has earned a 5-star safety rating from Euro NCAP, the leading independent safety organisation in Europe. In their new Assisted Driving tests that took place over 2 weeks, Kuga came out ahead of the pack too with a ‘Good’ rating, showing high performance in all areas and a good balance between Driver Engagement and Vehicle Assistance with a robust Safety Backup.
The warranty covers any part of the vehicle that requires repair or replacement as a result of a manufacturing defect for the first 2 years unlimited kilometres. All PHEV components are protected for the first 5 years or 100,000 kilometres. The battery itself is protected for the first 8 years or 160,000 kilometres.
Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection uses camera technology to scan the road ahead. If a collision risk with a vehicle, pedestrian or cyclist is detected, it’ll then provide you with a warning. If you don’t respond in time, the system can automatically apply up to full braking force to help reduce the severity of, or even eliminate, some frontal collisions.
Local Hazard Information informs you of any issues that might impact your journey. From road works, to accidents, and even localised flooding… The system uses data from connected vehicles, the public incident database and other sources to discover issues in your area. An alert in your digital display lets you know the type of hazard, and even its distance from you. You can activate your one-year free trial of Local Hazard Information by downloading the FordPass app.
Emergency Brake Assist is designed to recognise an emergency braking situation and optimise the pressure within the braking system to provide maximum stopping power.
Electronic Stability Control constantly monitors your vehicle’s progress. Using advanced sensors from the anti-lock braking and Traction Control Systems, it can detect when a vehicle is losing grip and automatically apply a braking pulse to individual wheels to help stabilise it.
The Kuga is designed to help keep young children safe and secure on every journey. It comes with rear ISOFIX child seat attachment points, so you can easily fit two child seats.
Receive Traffic and vehicle Alerts in your vehicle, and vehicle health alerts on your phone with the FordPass app. The app will notify you if your tyre pressure is low, when to change your oil, and a range of other alerts that can help you keep your Ford at its best. The alert will let you know the exact issue and even give you a recommended course of action. You can also request a service at your preferred Ford Dealer, directly through the app.
A Thatcham Category 1 alarm is a sophisticated system that automatically arms itself when you double-lock your Kuga. It will sound a powerful alarm if triggered by forced entry, the car being lifted, or if the motion sensors pick up any movement inside. The technology is also designed to help prevent unwanted towing of your Kuga. You can also receive an Alarm Trigger Notification alert through the FordPass app if your car’s alarm is activated.

The large media bin in the centre console has enough room for even the biggest smartphones. There are large cup-holders for the driver and passenger, and even the doors are designed to maximise space.
Make easy work of shopping trips and school runs. Or why not throw a couple of bikes in the back and head out to explore? Kuga’s flexible rear seating and up to 1530 litres of storage capacity ensures you’ll always have all the space you’ll need.
Tow bars are usually fixed, so they permanently stick out from the back of a vehicle. But the Kuga’s optional releasable tow bar makes it easy to tuck the tow bar behind the bumper when not in use.
